NAME: Dookie
ARTIST:Green Day
RATING:

REVIEW: Green Day is one of the more...love or hate kind of band. Which is why I gave it 3 stars (which is half seeing 6 is the most). For me this isn't the best punk album nor would it be in my top 5 or 10. The beats are alright a little too poppy for my taste but then again the Ramones also didn't have the 'Hardcore' beat ethier, which gets back to the fact that its not really the music it's more the lyrics (punk started as people who wanted to make a statement who were always musically talented which why punk became famous for the 3 power cords.) In which this album Green Day did hit the spot. With the hits
'Longview' which is an amazing song with Billiejoe's whinny voice,
'Welcome to Paradise' is prob the best song off the album in my view,
'Basket Case' the poppy insane theme song, and
'When I come Around' which is played in malls all across America! Ethier way it's an okay album.
NAME:The Link
ARTIST:Gojira
RATING:

REVIEW:Remarkably well-composed and technical music never came from such an unlikely place...France. Bayonne, France. Gojira consists of four dudes; one plays drums named Mario, two play guitar and one plays while he sings, too. And one, as you may have guessed, plays bass gee-tar. The Link is one of Gojira's earlier releases, and it possesses the brutality and intensity of their current effort, The Way of All Flesh. Blending odd guitar effects with swift, mind-bending drum skill, these musicians really know how to keep you listening. Their lyrics don't contain the usual corny metal diatribe either. Their lyrics hit upon topics of existence, human life, whales (yes...whales), spirituality, and ecology. Their current works reiterate their interests in the aforementioned subjects. Great album, and excellent band.
