Smoke Or Fire

NAME: Above the City
ARTIST:Smoke or Fire
RATING:
REVIEW: The first album from the Boston punk band Smoke or Fire. The first song which is their big hit 'California's Burring' is absolutely amazing! It's got a happy beat but lyrics that sounds like a disaster. They're style reminds me a lot of Rise Against with the awesome lyrics and the screaming in some songs. This album I say is great because it flows the best I mean it doesn't matter if I put it on shuffle or not I like all the songs, they don't sound repeated ether. This album is more about the vocals then the actual music. There is only one song I feel as the music over powers the singer which is 'California's Burning' but for this song I defiantly think it fits with the smashing of objects in the back and the singer screaming "FUCK!" it always brings a tear to my eye haha. Smoke or Fire isn't a real popular band but I think is one of the bands that will see their time soon.

Sum 41

NAME: Does This Look Infected?
ARTIST:Sum 41
RATING:
REVIEW: Some people don't count Sum 41 punk, but I doubt they've listened to this album then. In this album the big hit is The Hell Song which I think they mastered it by adding the whole "huck a luggie and spit" sound in the start of the song. They also throw in some metal with the screams and the guitars are much more heavier than a few of their other albums. On the song Mr. Amsterdam they even throw in some double bass to the mix. The song A.N.I.C. is one of the best songs on the album which is only 37 seconds long. If you listen to it you will defiantly think of someone you would love to say that too. Over my Head along with still waiting are the more catchy songs with the poppy chorus. The last song on the album Thanks for Nothing is the most powerful song, most people have felt like that once before "...reality a bore, nothings going to change." The lyrics are amazing. This album is also another one I keep in my stereo at all times.

Static-X

NAME: Start A War
ARTIST:Static-X
RATING:
REVIEW: This album frustrates me. I've been a huge Static-X fan for a good many years. Though their core style has remained mostly the same throughout their whole discography, mining the same vein of musically simple but extremely tight and aggressive industrial metal for 5 full length albums; Start A War hit a massive speed bump in creativity. First problem is the vocals. Lyrically it's just plain bad. Unfortunately, Wayne Static's vocals only exceed when his lyrics are interesting. Here they simply aren't. The guitars just lack any kind of exciting hooks this time around. Not saying they were ever technical, but there's simply nothing to catch your attention for the most part. The only really good tracks on the album are "I'm The One," "Dirthouse," "Skinnyman," and "Set It Off" because they actually include some decent lyrics and conversely good vocals, along with some decent guitar hooks. You really wouldn't miss much just downloading those four tracks and skipping out on the rest of the album. Poor show..
